summer

So far, a lot of rain. I have been reading as I said I would; Catherwood about a woman who gets lost in the woods in 1676, The Nearly Departed: My family and other foreigners, a memoir, and now it's a biography of Gabrielle Chanel, aka Coco . I'm also reading Bitter Sugar, which is about the cane harvest by Haitians in the Dominican Republic. It was written by a French reporter in the 1970's. It's depressing.

Besides reading and watching movies (A River Runs Through It, Nueba Yol, the Queen, Memoirs of a Geisha, Lost in Translation, La Ciudad de los Prodigios, the Count of Monte Cristo...) I am back to taking self portraits. A girl alone with a camera will do such things. At any time of day. I found a perfect northwest window that has very good light and any time my mind is at rest I think: hmm, I wonder what the light is like now? And I run and find out.
