kitten sleeping with the cat

kitten sleeping with the cat, originally uploaded by Amity Beane.

I know. I know! This cannot turn into a cute kitten blog. Kittens grow up, drag dead birds into the house, get fat and surly.

However, this kitten! Such a sweetie, and spunky, furball.

She's doing her job. Frida/George (the cat has been christened George by the WeeBees, whom I commandeered to love on him/her/it when the cat was obviously depressed) now spends days playing with the kitten. Naptime finds them curled around each other.

The cat doesn't wake me up at 3 am anymore, which was happening for a few weeks. Plaintive cries in my ear in the middle of the night. No more of THAT.

When Frida/George elects to spend the night outside, the kitten has discovered the best place to sleep is curled up on me. I've woken several mornings to a small, two pound bundle heaving and wheezing on my chest (poor kitten, has some sort of barn cold). When I roll over, she rights herself and climbs on my back. I love it.

So, do you see the cat? He's white, he's to the left.

The WeeBees, in their infinite under-ten wisdom, have concocted a storyline about George (remember, it's Frida), Serena the kitten, and their orange cat, ChinaCatSunflower, or Chiney.

George and Chiney are engaged. There will be a summer wedding. Serena is to be the flower girl. Now, Chiney lives five miles away with two tother cats, Beefy and Keezy, who will be the best man? the maid of honor? We adults are not sure, as they (the children) spin out the lovely summer fantasies that occupy them so well. What will the flowers be like? Will there be cake? Does George have to take a bath? Serena has to take a bath. She smelled like a haybarn for two weeks, now she needs to lose that old scent and acquire her Byron roots.

Cheaper than men if all you need is cuddling. Cute little bugger.
